OBITUARY:
MRS. MOORES PASSES BEYOND.
WIFE OF CITY RECORDER SUCCUMBS AFTER SEVENTEEN MONTHS OF ILLNESS.
HAD RESIDED IN MARION COUNTY DURING HER LIFETIME OF USEFULLNESS.
One of the saddest happenings of the new year is the passing beyond the great unknown of Mrs. Florence E. Moores last evening a 10:30 o'clock. Although having been a sufferer for the past seventeen months, it was not generally known that Mrs. Moores was on the verge of passing away from this earthly life.
The passing of Florence E. Moores, wife of city recorder W. A. Moores, from this earthly vision is a loss that is keenly felt in all circles. She, during her lifetime, which has been spent in Marion county, has lent the best that could be given to all those who have come in contact with her. What will be missed by those of the material world is obvious in that she was of an excellent and loving mind and had given to the community the sweet tones of her voice which nature had endowed her with. If Mrs. Moores had survived until the twenty-second day of the coming April, she would have passed through twenty-two years of happily married life.
Mrs. Moores was the daughter of Jason and Josephine Elgin, who reside in this city, on Saginaw st, in South Salem. She was born in Linn county, May 25, 1860, has resided in Marion county the majority of her life. She is survived by her husband, W. A. Moores, her parents, four brothers and five sisters; Charles F. Elgin, of this city, George M. Elgin, of Grande Ronde, Henry W., and Clifford W. Elgin of Siletz; Mrs. H. H. Hewitt, of Albany; Mrs. W. R. Ellis of Grand Ronde; Mrs. H.E. Chipman, of Portland; and Miss Emma Elgin, of Siletz. Those who were at her bedside during the last hours were her parents, Mr. and Mrs. James. H. Elgin, her brother Chas. F. Elgin, three sisters, Mrs. H. E. Chipman, Mrs. H. H. Hewitt, Miss Emma Elgin, and her partner through life. Funeral arrangements will be made later.
Daily Oregon Statesman 26 Feb 1910 2:1-2.

The funeral of Mrs. Wylie A. Moores was held Sunday afternoon from the home and was attended by a large number of friends. Interment was made in I. O. O. F. cemetery.
