Father of Frank L. Chitwood of Klamath Falls, Mrs. Bert Badger of Dayton, Ernest E. Chitwood of San Fernando, Cal., Mrs. Dora Thierolf of California. 
Funeral services Monday, April 4, at 3 p.m. from the chapel of W. T. Rigdon and Son. Interment I.O.O.F. cemetery.

SALEM, Or., April 2 - (Special) - Albert Lawrence Chitwood, 83, Polk county pioneer, died at his home at Grand Island today. Mr. Chitwood was born in Iowa. He came to Oregon when 17 years of age, and spent most of his life farming. 
Four children survive, including F.L. Chitwood, Klamath Falls; Mrs. Bertha Badger, Dayton; Ernest Chitwood, San Fernando, Cal., and Mrs. Dora Thierolf, Los Angeles.

ALBERT CHITWOOD DIES; IS PIONEER, Has Been Farmer in Polk For Many Years; to Be Buried Monday. 
Albert Lawrence chitwood, member of a Polk county pioneer family, died at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Clarence Badger at Grand Island, Saturday about noon. He had been ailing since the first of the year. Funeral services will be held Monday afternoon at 1 o'clock at the Rigdon mortuary here, with Rev. D. R. Schierman of the Seventh Day Adventist church officiating. 
Mr. Chitwood was born in Iowa, September 15, 1849, and when 17 years old came to Oregon from Illinois. He has lived here since. His great grandfather, James C. Chitwood settled in the hills at Eola and his father, Joshua Chitwood, at one time owned the land at the west end of the Marion-Polk county gridge. 
The Chitwood family is well known in both Polk and Marion counties. Albert Lawrence Chitwood spent most of his life farming. 
He was married to Nancy Hillhouse, native of Kings Valley and of a pioneer family of 1852. She died in 1885, and in 1892 he was married to Ovie Allphin, also of a pioneer family. The second Mrs. Chitwood died 10 years ago, since which time he had his home with his children. Mr. Chitwood leaves four children: F. L. Chitwood of Klamath Falls; Mrs. Bertha Badger of Dayton; Ernest E. Chitwood of San Fernando, Calif., and Mrs. Dora Thierolf of Los Angeles. Mr. Chitwood attended Willamette university for a time in his youth.
