BIOGRAPHICAL: From Larsell, Pg 247:
"Arthur Ingram Nicklin was born in Tyler County, Virginia, the son of a physician. In 1850 (Oct.) he came to Oregon with his family, who settled in Polk County. The father was engaged chiefly in business pursuits, and young Nicklin also was in business matters for a number of years. In 1872, however, he graduated from the Willamette Medical Department and was appointed physician at the Klamath Indian Reservation (during the Modoc War). The following year he established himself in practice at Eugene, remaining until 1883, when he moved to Portland. There he served as resident physician at the Oregon State Insane Asylum for a short time. The following year he established himself in private practice in the city. Arthur and his father, John, moved to Salem, following Isreal's accidental death. They operated the Rector Sawmill until 1866. In Eugene, Arthur was appointed U.S. Examining Surgeon for the Pensions, which position he filled until 1882. He was a charter member of the Oregon State Medical society. "

MARRIED - Dr. A. I. Nicklin, formerly of this place, now of Eugene City, was married at that place, last Wednesday, to Miss N. J. Harris, of Eugene City. DOS 30 Sept 1873 3:3
