OBITUARY:
At the home of his son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Perry, No. 110 High street, Salem, Oregon, Monday, March 6, l899, Matthew Patterson, aged 86 years, l month and l7 days. Deceased was a native of Pennsylvania, and in early life removed to Ohio. From that state he came to Oregon in l874, and for a number of years he has made his home with his daughter in this city. He had a genial disposition, and counted his friends by hundreds and with all of them he was a general favorite. His wife preceded him to the grave in l884, but he leaves four children, two sons, and two daughters to mourn his demise. They are: John Patterson, of Salem; Matthew Patterson, of Clackamas county; Mrs. Harritt Krigbaum, of Clackamas county, and Mrs. Wm. Perry, of Salem, at whose home he spent his declining years. The funeral will be held from the Perry residence tomorrow (Wednesday) at 2 p.m., Rev. John Parsons of the First M. E. church officiating. Interment will be had in Odd Fellows cemetery.
