OBITUARY: 
PETTYJOHN -- At her home on North Winter street, Tuesday evening, February 18, 1913, Mrs. Sarah A. Pettyjohn, aged 85 years, of heart failure. 
Mrs. Pettyjohn was born in Indiana September 29, 1827. From there she moved to Missouri where she married Lewis Pettyjohn, who died twelve years ago. She and her husband crossed the plains by ox team in 1847, settling on a donation land claim in Ankeny bottom, north [error--should be south] of Salem. From this place they moved to a farm several miles south of the city. 
The deceased was a member of the Christian church for sixty-five years. She leaves four children; Mrs. Roland, Mrs. J. W. Fielder and A. D. Pettyjohn of Salem, and Mrs W. L. Yates of Alameda, California. She is also survived by twenty-two grandchildren, twenty-five great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren. Funeral announcements later.

FUNERAL ANNOUNCEMENT -- The funeral of Mrs. Sarah A. Pettyjohn will be held today at 1 o'clock from the First Christian church. Rev. Davis Erret, pastor of the church will conduct the services. Interment in I.O.O.F. cemetery.

The funeral services of the late Mrs. Sarah A. Pettyjohn was held yesterday afternoon at the First Christian church, Rev. Davis Errett officiating. Two quartets, one a male and the other a mixed quartet furnished music at the church. Interment was in the I. O. O. F. cemetery. Six grandsons of the deceased acted as pallbearers. The were: John Fidler, Everett Roland, J. C. Fidler, J. C. Pettyjohn, Del Pettyjohn and D. Pettyjohn.
