1880 OR CENSUS - E. H. Piper, age 50, teamster, b. Illinois, is enumerated with wife, E. E., age 45, b. Pa., and son E. age 5, b. Oregon.

OBITUARY: 
At the family home in South Salem Oregon, Thursday, January 26, l899, at l: 30 a.m., E. H. Piper, aged 67 years. 
Deceased was born in Illinois, on February l6, l832, and came to Oregon in l852, coming across the plains with a Presbyterian colony. He fought in the Indian wars in l855-56. For the past twenty-five years he has been a resident of Salem. The funeral will be conducted from the Leslie M.E. church in South Salem at 3 o’clock this afternoon, Rev. H.A. Ketchum, D.D. officiating.
