George S. Reid, at a local hospital, Sept. 26. Late resident of Salem Route 1. Survived by two brothers, Robert Reid, Portland, and Roy Reid, Palo Alto, Calif. Also survived by several nieces and nephews, including Byron Purvine, Salem, Walker Purvine, Glendale, Ore., and Margaret Purvine, Portland.

REID SERVICES WEDNESDAY PM 
Private funeral services will be held at the Virgil T. Golden company chapel, Wednesday afternoon for George S. Reid, former Salem businessman, who died Saturday at a local hospital. Rev. Brooks Moore will officiate at the service and interment will be in the Pioneer cemetery. 
Born January 12, 1871, in Bedford, Iowa, Reid a year later moved to Salem with his parents. In 1893 he was married to Linnie N. Savage, who preceded him in death in 1939. 
When in Salem Reid operated the Savage and Reid Feed and Seed store. Later he moved to Portland, where he was a partner in the Portland Feed and Seed company. It was about a year ago that he returned to Salem. Reid was a member of the Sunnyside Methodist church in Portland, a 32nd degree Mason and a member of the Oregon Consistory. 
Survivors include two brothers, Robert Reid of Portland and Roy Reid of Palo Alto, Calif.; seven nieces and eight nephews.
