Also enumerated with the family are Electa Prindle, age 71, identified as aunt [of Thompson], b. New York, and Robert B. Taylor, age 24, identified as servant [to Thompson], occupation farm laborer, b. Ohio.

The caption reads: "This photograph was displayed as a part of the Diaries exhibit from April to May, 1995 in the Heritage Room at the Salem, Oregon Public Library. Thompson Remington was born in 1840, died at the age of 89 in 1929, and was buried in the Pioneer Cemetery in Salem, Oregon. This picture was taken in 1862 in Corinth, Mississippi when he fought as a part of the 16th Regiment of the Iowa Volunteers in Tennessee and Mississippi in the American Civil War. He was the great grandfather of Joan Remington Beecroft. The tintype portrait is small and very dark and forms a unit with a gold frame. It was scanned in color to get the best enhancement of the portrait."
