OBITUARY: 
RICE – At the home of A. E. Pettijohn six miles southwest of Salem, Oregon, Wednesday, December 13, 1899, at 10 a.m. John Rice, aged 40 years, of consumption.
Deceased was a brother of Mrs. Pettijohn, and has long been a sufferer with the desiease to which he succumbed. The funeral will be held at 1 0’clock this afternoon from the Pettijohn residence. Interment will be held in Rural cemetery.
