OBITUARY:
DIED AT HOSPITAL
John W. Savage, One of Salem's Promising Young Men, Succumbs to Typhoid Fever This Morning.
John W. Savage, son of Mr. and Mrs. George O. Savage, who reside on the Silverton road, east of this city, died at the Salem Hospital this morning. The young man was in his twentieth year. He was taken ill about three weeks ago, and appeared to be getting along nicely until Wednesday evening, when peritonitis set in, and death resulted this morning.
The deceased was one of Salem's bright young men. He was employed at the Capital Drug Store, where by his quiet and gentlemanly ways, he formed many acquaintances who regret his untimely death. He was a member of Valley Lodge, A. O. U. W., and also of Oregon Cedar Camp, Modern Woodmen, carrying insurance policies of $2000 and $1000, respectively, in those orders.
Funeral services will be conducted at the home of the parents, on the Silverton road, at 11 o'clock Sunday morning. Rev. P. S. Knight will officiate, and burial will take place in the family lot in Rural cemetery.
