Mar 1874 in Minnesota; Marriage - Edward Dencer m Leola Casey, 1 Feb 1911 in Polk Co., Oregon; 1920 Census - Edward Dencer, age 40, occupation fruit farmer, b. Oregon, is enumerated with his wife Leola, age 40, b. Kentucky;

OBITUARY: 
Death Claims Former City Fire Fighter. Edward Dencer, 75, native of this community and former member of the Salem fire department, died at a Salem hospital Monday morning of a heart condition. He had been in ill health for several months. He was born Feb.. 9, 1879 on the family farm about six miles south of Salem, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Valentine Dencer who settled in Oregon in 1852 from Minnesota. For a time in his youth he was with the local fire department and later had charge of the water and fired departments at Sprague, Wash. About 1911 Dencer returned to the family farm where he operated the Red Hill Prune Orchard. His wife, the former Leola Case, preceded him in death in 1939. He was a member of the Odd Fellows Lodge and the Elks Lodge. Surviving him are one sister, Mrs. George Kaspar of Newberg; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p. m. Wednesday in the W. T. Rigdon Chapel with interment at the IOOF Cemetery. Ritualistic services will be conducted by the IOOF Chemeketa Lodge No. 1. Oregon Statesman 9 Mar 1954 2:3
