OBITUARY: 

Mrs. Mary Schaffer, 59, Brookings, formerly of Salem, died Wednesday of emphysema at a Crescent City, Calif. Hospital. She was born in North Dakota and came to the Clear Lake area north of Salem in 1919. She moved to Brookings about 30 years ago. Survivers include a daughter Mrs. Donna Corrigan, Brookings; sisters Mrs. Martha Wagner and Mrs. Esther Kirchner, both of Salem; Mrs. Bertha England and Mrs. Rebecca Banick, both of Brookings, and Mrs. Pauline Wipper, Reno, Nev.; brothers David and John Schlag, both of Salem, and Manuel Schlag, Harrisburg; four grandchildren. Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Virgil T. Golden mortuary. Private intermnet will be at Salem Pioneer Cemetery.
