At his home in South Salem, at 8 a.m., Thursday, Jan. 7, 1897, after an illness of four days, Al. Scovell, aged about 26 years. Deceased was a son of Cal. Scovell of this city and a half brother of A. D. Davidson.

Salem Mail Carrier Dies Quite Suddenly
SCOVILL – At his home in South Salem, Thursday, January 7, 1897, after an illness of four days, Al. Scovell [sic], aged about 26 years.
ALLIE SCOLVILL was a native of Salem, and died at the home of his parents, Mr. and Mrs. L. C. Scovill, Thursday evening at 7 o’clock, after a short illness. Deceased was a mail carrier and contractor and was well known in this city. His funeral will be from the house at 10 a.m. Saturday, burial in Rural cemetery.
