An added note of sadness pervades the services at the tomb of one whose body is brought back for burial after many years absence from the old home. This was exemplified today at the funeral of Glycon A. Rockwell, who a score of years ago was a well known citizen active in business, church and social circles. Today he was borne to the tomb at his old home by strangers. His pastor reviewed his religious life, bestowing a deserved tribute to his life-long faithfulness in the discharge of his duties as a member and officer of his church. This should be supplemented by a tribute to his memory as a business man. The writer has known him since the day–more than a half century ago–that he was a poor boy in his teens from northern Pennsylvania landed on the bank of the Mississippi at the place which was destined to be his future home for many years. He got work at once in a general merchandise store, was promoted from time to time for faithfulness, became bookkeeper and finally an expert accountant, which became his vocation. In this capacity he filled many positions of trust, all of which he discharged faithfully. His integrity has never been questioned. Indeed, his prominent trait was absolute fidelity to the interests of his employer. He was honest, sober, capable and industrious; a positive character, he was unostentatious, a clean boy and a clean man. During the half century and more that the writer has known him as boy and man he has never heard an unclean or profane word fall from his lips. Peace to his ashes.
