OBITUARY: 
Elvera D. Beard
Aug. 10 1899 - March 4 1996
Keizer-Elvera D. Beard, 96, died Monday. She was born in Independence. She lived in Washington and Colorado before moving to Salem in 1935. She worked for California Packing Co. and Thomas Kay Woolen Mills. She was a kitchen worker at the Meier & Frank Restaurant. She was a member of the Church of God of Prophecy and the Veterans of Foreign Wars and enjoyed sewing and crocheting. Her husband, Herbert, died in 1935. Survivors include her sons, Melvin and Robert both of Salem; brother, Preston Dugger of Jefferson; eight grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren. Services will be 1p.m. Wednesday in Salem Pioneer Cemetery. Arrangements are by Howell-Edwards-Doerkensen mortuary. Contributions: charity of choice.
