Oregon; 1900 Census - John Gash, widower, age 64, b. Nov 1835 in Ireland, immigrated to US in 1870, occupation farmer, is enumerated with daughter Elizabeth, age 20, single, b. Apr 1880 in Oregon, and son John W., age 26, farmer, b. Feb 1874 in Oregon, and his wife of 6 years, Annie, age 26, b. Feb 1864 in Mississippi, along with their 2 children, George W., age 3, and Paul [?], age 2, both born in Oregon;

OBITUARY: 
OLD RESIDENT DEAD. JOHN GASH, PASSES AWAY ON HOWELL PRAIRIE AFTER A LINGERING ILLNESS. John Gash died at his home on Howell Prairie, near Pratum, on Friday morning, February 13th, at 6 a. m., after a lingering illness. Deceased was born in Ireland sixty-seven years ago. Mr. Gash resided near Salem about twenty years ago, where he conducted a dairy, supplying milk to Salem residents until 1890, when he removed to his farm on Howell Prairie, where he died, thus being a resident of this state ???-three years. He leaves two children, J. W. Gash and Mrs. Elizabeth Jans to mourn his demise, both residing on Howell Prairie. Funeral services will be conducted from St. Paul's Episcopal church at Salem, Saturday, February 14th, between the hours of 12 and 1 o'clock, and interment will be had in the I. O. O. F. cemetery.
