OBITUARY:
At his home in Falls City, Oregon, January 18, 1914, J. H. Flower, aged 52 years.
The remains were sent to this city yesterday afternoon for burial. Funeral services were held from Lehman & Clough's chapel this morning at 10 o'clock. Members of Chemeketa lodge No. 1 I.O.O.F. conducted the services. The burial took place here in the I. O. O. F. cemetery.
The deceased was one of the best known lawyers in Polk county, where he had practiced many years. He was at one time a resident of Salem, where he was prominently connected with the Oregon insane asylum.
Before coming to Salem he made his home in Dayton, Oregon, where his only daughter, Marguerite Flower, was born. Several years ago a cancerous growth on his face made a change of climate imperative and he put himself under treatment with a noted specialist in California for several months. He returned to Falls City last winter much encouraged by reports from his physician that immediate recovery was probable. His condition grew worse, however, and he passed away Monday morning at 3 o'clock a.m. after a period of intense suffering.
He leaves a widow and several brothers and sisters.
