At the home of his son, Squire Farrar, in Salem, at 1:30 a. m., Tuesday, March 10, 1891, John Farrar, aged 81 years and 5 days.
Deceased was born in England, March 4, 1810, and came to Massachusetts in 1848. In 1870, he removed to Oregon, making Salem his home, and has resided here ever since.
He leaves a wife, in her 77th year, and two sons - Squire and John F. - and a daughter - Elizabeth E. - to mourn his death. He also leaves a large circle of friends who sympathize with them in their bereavement.
Mr. Farrar was ill about two months, having been first taken down with inflammatory rheumatism, in connection with bilious fever. But his death resulted from general weakness, he having nearly recovered from the illness first affecting him.
The funeral will be conducted at 1:30 this afternoon from the residence of Squire Farrar, 210 Court street, the remains being given interment in the Rural cemetery south of the city.
