OBITUARY: 

VINSON BEATY, 81, SUCCUMBS. RITES THURSDAY --
Vinson Chauncey Beaty, resident of Oregon for over 75 years and a member of a large pioneer family, died Monday at a local hospital at the age of 81 years. Beaty was born in Missouri, Feb. 24, 1870, the son of James William Beaty and Orinda Howe Goodrich Beaty. With his parents and four brothers, he came to Oregon in 1875, settling on a farm near Brooks.
The family came west by train to San Francisco then north to Portland by boat. Later Beaty's father moved to Silverton where he operated a sawmill and grist mill. Beaty resided in the Salem area since he was a boy and was a resident of 918 N. Commercial st. at the time of his death. On April 10, 1895, he was married to Lillie Alice Fowler of Amity. She preceded him in death in February of 1929. Beaty was a member of Chemeketa lodge, IOOF. Surviving are two sons, Joseph Franklin Beaty, Salem, and Carl Chauncey Beaty, Independence, two daughters, Mrs. Sibbie Sara Campbell, Paramount, Calif., and Mrs. Libbie Harriet Dixon, Edmonds, Wash.; sister, Clara Reese, Maupin; four grandchildren, Jeannette Alice Eaton, Portland, and Johnny, Joe and Jimmie Beaty, all of Salem; two great grandchildren, Lillian Alice Eaton, and Glen Allen Eaton, Portland. Funeral services will be held Thursday at 1:30 p.m. from the W. T. Rigdon chapel. Interment will be in IOOF cemetery with ritualistic services by Chemeketa lodge, IOOF.
