CLAIRE R. POWERS

Claire R. Powers, 81, of Salem died Monday in Salem. He was born in Ferguson, Iowa, and lived there until moving to Salem in 1942. He married Rosalie on June 14, 1965 in Reno, Nevada. He was employed for many years as manager of spawn growing at West Foods Mushroom Plant. Claire was a member of Ferguson Christian Church and enjoyed reading, fishing, and gardening. He is survived by his daughters, Betty Carrick of Salem and Darlene Diller of Albany; sons, Bruce Wallace of Indiana, Dennis Wallace of Texas and Kenneth Wallace of Idaho; sister, Margaret Akins of Tigard; brother, Wayne Powers of Salem; 18 grandchildren; and numerous great-grandchildren. He was preceeded in death by his wife; Rosalie; and son, Robert Wallace. Visitation will be 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday and 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday at Virgil T. Golden Funeral Service in Salem. Graveside services wil be 11 a.m. Friday, October 5 at Pioneer Cemetery in Salem, Oregon.
