OBITUARY: 
Dorothy went to be with the Angels and Savior, on March 18, 2015, after a short illness. She was born, raised, and spent most of her life in Salem, Oregon. Her family's home, where she was born, was located on the current site of North Salem High School. From her early 30's, she resided in Rapid City, South Dakota for 15 years while her husband was stationed at Ellsworth Air Force Base. Dorothy worked as a bookkeeper for Montgomery Ward and Roth's IGA, in Salem, each for a lengthy number of years. She retired at the age of 82 after working many years for Food Services with the Salem-Keizer School District.
Dorothy was preceded in death by; husbands: Herman L. Friesen and Frank Nickerson; son: Gary Friesen; sister: Ruth Friesen. She is survived by daughters: Donna Royer, Spokane, WA, Betty Fellinger, Salem, OR, Patricia Friesen, Portland, OR, and Beverly Friesen, Evergreen, CO. She is survived by numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren.
Dorothy's character was well described by one of her many friends, who reminisced about her, "she was such a remarkable woman. She did so much for so many during her long lifetime and many loving thoughts are sent up for her."
Dorothy was involved in many charities throughout her life. She volunteered for Meals on Wheels for over 25 years. For over 20 years, she lovingly knitted and donated blankets/hats for babies and lap blankets for the elderly.
The family wishes to thank the Willamette Valley Hospice staff who were so kind and helpful during her illness.
