OBITUARY:

RAYMOND BLIVEN DEAD
Seized With Cramps While Bathing Near Spong's Landing.
Raymond Bliven, the 18-year-old son of Mr. and Mrs. M. F. Bliven of Kaiser Bottom, was drowned Sunday afternoon while swimming in the river with a boy friend near Lincoln. His body was recovered about twenty minutes later and a pulmotor was used for an hour, but all efforts to resuscitate him failed.
Following a hearty dinner, the lad, accompanied by Joe Painter, went swimming near Spong's landing on the Willamette river. He was seized with cramps and went down before help could come to him. The body was recovered by Paul Stege. Dr. Pomeroy was picnicking near the scene of the accident and rushed to aid the victim but efforts were futile. Besides his parents, he leaves several sisters and brothers. They are Clyde Bliven and Mrs. W. F. Burnett of Salem, Pearl Bliven and Ralph Bliven, who are visiting at Nez Pierce, Idaho; Howard Bliven of Fairfield, and Marian and Lillian Bliven who live with their parents.
The family came here twelve years ago from Kansas. The funeral will be held tomorrow morning at 10 o'clock from the chapel of Webb & Clough. Burial will be in Odd Fellows' cemetery.
