OBITUARY:
VETERAN PRINTER GOES TO HOSPITAL
Archie Boulware Helpless on Floor at Eldridge Hotel, Forty Hours.
Apparently afflicted with paralysis, Archie Boulware, a veteran printer in the employ of the Statesman Publishing company, was found lying on the floor in his room at the Eldridge hotel about 3:20 o'clock yesterday afternoon, where he had evidently lain for at least forty hours. He is an aged man, between sixty-five and seventy years old, which makes his case doubly serious. Boulware has been employed with the night force in the mechanical department of the Statesman. On Wednesday night he did not put in an appearance. He was not seen about the streets Thursday, and was still missing Thursday night. Contrary to his usual custom when off duty, he had left his "slip" open in the composing room, which led Foreman Charles Brant to believe that he was detained from his work by a mishap of some kind. Going to the Eldridge hotel, Brant made inquiry and learned that Boulware's room had been locked, with the key in the door on the inside, for two days. Boulware is accustomed to remain in his room for two or three days at times, and knowing his habits, the proprietress of the hotel had not attempted to force open the room. Mr. Brant insisted upon entering the room, and found the aged printer lying helpless upon the floor. He was in a semi-conscious state and could give but a vague idea of how the mishap took place. He brokenly explained that he had arisen from the bed to light a cigarette, that one of his legs had given away and he had fallen. A severe bruise on his face indicated that in falling he had struck his head on the bed, which may have rendered him unconscious for several hours after falling. Dr. Roy Byrd was called to the room and ordered Boulware taken to the Willamette sanitarium. He stated that it would be impossible before a more thorough examination to determine the exact nature of the printer's condition.

PRINTERS PRAY
Fellow Workers Show Their Heartfelt Fellowship For Dead Brother
A rare demonstration of the inherent religious instinct and natural reverence for divine authority on the part of practical men, whether of the church or not of it, was witnessed in the composing room of The Statesman office yesterday evening. There was a hastily called meeting of the local printers' union to arrange for the funeral of their deceased brother Archie Boulware, who died yesterday from a paralytic stroke.
About twenty men had hurriedly assembled directly from their workshops, and their deliberations indicated their heartfelt fellowship for "poor old Archie," who had "turned his slip" for good on this side. Not to exceed three or four were members of churches. For the most part they were men whose faith was doubtless shown by their works, yet when one of their number, unknown to formal religious affiliation, falteringly but with deep and sincere feeling, proposed that in memory of "Archie" the members present join in the Lord's prayer, every one, with head bowed, responded, and the cherished petition went up in deep sincerity from every one present.
The funeral will be held from the Cottage undertaking parlors today at 5 p.m. A special car will leave the parlors at 5:30 to accommodate those wishing to go to the cemetery.
