[Edgar] Seldon Brooks lost his wife in childbirth of their daughter, Emma. He never remarried, but was one of the first "Bee Keepers" in the Northwest. Iva, his eldest daughter married Eugene Collins, the grandson of Thalia Beard Collins and her husband of Beardstown, Illinois. They had four children; the two oldest boys died before they were eighteen years old. Ivan Collins was their third son. A very talented person. He studied drama at the Pasadena Playhouse in California and is the artist who made the miniature wagons, buggies, etc. that are on permanent display at the Oregon Historical Society.
