OBITUARY: 
VERY LOW . 
Mrs. John Brooks, of North Salem, took a relapse Sunday, and yesterday was in a very critical condition. She was not expected to live through last night. Her whole family, except her son Frank, who left last week for San Francisco, is at her bedside.

BROOKS 
At her home in North Salem, Thursday, Sept 13, 1888, at 9 a.m., after an extended illness, Martha Rebecca, wife of John Brooks, aged 54 years, 1 month and 11 days. Mrs. Brooks was born in Hart county, Kentucky, August 2, 1834. Her maiden name was Martha R. Harper. After her marriage she removed to Hanson County, Missouri, where she remained until the spring of 1864, when she came to Oregon, suffering all the trial and privations incident to six months’ journey across the plains with an ox team, and settled on the place where she died. She united with the Baptist church in 1851, and died triumphant, rejoicing in a Savior’s love. She leaves a husband and nine children; six boys and three girls. The funeral will take place at the family residence near the fair grounds this (Friday) afternoon at 2 o’clock. Services by Rev. A R. Medbury and Rev. J. W. Webb. The interment will be in the Odd Fellows’ cemetery. Friends of the family are invited to attend.

MRS. BROOKS FUNERAL -- A very large concourse of friends assembled at the residence of John Brooks, yesterday afternoon to pay their tribute of respect to the memory of Mrs. Brooks. The services were conducted impressively by Rev. A. R. Medbury. The cortege that followed the remains to the I. O. O. F. cemetery was very long.
