NOTES:

Salem Woman Makes Hit
Mrs. Mildred R. Brooks of Salem who is a candidate for county recorder, was in Woodburn Friday getting acquainted and fixing up political fences.  Mrs. Brooks has chosen for her slogan, "Out to win--please boost," and judging from the impression left here the slogan was well chosen.  While the idea of a woman running for this office is a new one in this state, it is here to stay.  Mrs. Brooks is a lady of refinement, of pleasant and interesting personality, one whose ability to conduct the office to which she aspires is unquestioned, and the Independent predicts a successful campaign, both for the primaries and the election --Woodburn Independent, March 27.
