OBITUARY: CHAMBERS--In Albina, on Friday evening, Jan. 14, 1887, at 10 oclock, John N. Chambers, aged 66 years. Deceased was born in New York in 1821, and when quite young moved to Ohio where he remained with his parents until 1846 when he came to Oregon and settled in Polk county. In 1849 he was among the thousands that visited California; returning from thence he made his residence near Salem, where he remained until three years ago, since which time he has resided in Albina. Mr. Chambers was a man noted for his Christian charities and humanity. "Blessed are the merciful, for they shall obtain mercy." He leaves a wife and eight children to mourn his loss. His many friends throughout the state will learn of his demise with sorrow. He was buried in the Odd Fellows cemetery near this city yesterday morning.
