OBITUARY: 
Grant School Janitor Dies Suddenly at Home. 
Death came to A. J. Connor early Sunday afternoon at his home, 1275 North Market street as the result of an attack of heart failure. Mr. Connor dropped dead while occupied about the premises. He was 63 years old. Funeral services will be held from the chapel of Webb & Clough at 2 o’clock today, Rev. Leland W. Porter officiating, and interment will be in I.O.O.F. cemetery. 
Mr. Connor came to Salem in 1864 and was janitor at the Grant school. He leaves behind his widow, five children by a former marriage, Charles, John, Vida, Minnie and Pearl, all in Canada, and a sister, Mrs. C. Curran, of Youngstown, New York. He was a member of the Jason Lee Memorial church.

Death Claims Well Known Janitor at Grant School. 
Grand school as held deeply the loss of A.J. Conner, its janitor, who succumbed last Sunday afternoon to illness. He had been employed in the building for five successive years and was much loved by all of the children. He took a particular pride in the welfare of the school, the appearance of the building and grounds and the comfort of pupils and teachers. W. A. Pendey, who lives on South Commercial street, has replaced Mr. Connor.

The funeral services of A. J. Connor, 1275 Market street, were held this afternoon from the chapel of Webb & Clough and were conducted by the Rev. Leland Porter, pastor of the first Christian church. Burial was in the Odd Fellows cemetery. Mr. Connor was janitor of the Grant junior high school. He died Sunday of heart disease. Besides his widow he is survived by five children, Charles, John, Vida, Minnie and Pearl, all living in Canada.
