A DOUBLE FUNERAL. REMAINS OF MR. AND MRS. P. F. EMERSON LAID TO REST.
The Couple Buried in One Grave, with Beautiful and Impressive Rites of the Odd Fellows of Which Mr. Emerson Was a Member --Sad Scenes at the Church.
The funeral of the late Mr. and Mrs. P. F. Emerson was held from the First M.E. Church at 1 p.m. yesterday. The members of Chemeketa and Olive lodges, I.O.O.F. and Salem Rebekah lodge met at the Odd Fellows' hall, and from there proceeded to the undertaking parlors of Rigdon & Clough, where the two caskets were. From this point the lodges escorted the remains to the church. Rev. John Parsons, D.D., assisted by Rev. Blackwell, of South Salem, conducted the impressive funeral services at the church, a large crowd of relatives and friends of the deceased couple having gathered to pay the last sad tribute to their memory. A
fter the service, all were given an opportunity to view the remains, before the caskets were closed for the last time. The final scenes in the church were sad in the extreme, when the family of the deceased couple took their last farewell from all that remained on earth of their loved ones. From the church the remains were conveyed to the Odd Fellows' Cemetery, where they were placed in a double grave, and here the beautiful and impressive funeral rites of the Odd Fellows closed the service over the ramains of the loved dead.
