Oregon Statesman 22 Mar 1930 5:3

Cecelia Pettyjohn Fidler was born on December 25, 1854 in Marion county, Oregon, and passed to her reward March 21, 1930 from the home of her son, John J. Fidler, at Bay City, Oregon, aged 78 years, 2 months and 20 days.
She was the daughter of Lewis Pettyjohn, who came to the Willamette valley in 1847, and her whole life was spent in this vicinity.
On October 8, 1873 she was married to J. W. Fidler, who died November 8, 1924. From this union four children were born, all of whom survive her. They are John J. Fidler, Bay city; Mrs. Maud Blackwell, of Jefferson; B. D. Fidler, Salem and Julian C., of Airlie. Four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren also survive.
She was a member of the Rebekah lodge and of the Christian church of Jefferson. Through the over-hanging clouds of sorrow the bereaved family finds consolation in the interposition of a kindly providence, which permitted her to rally from a semi-stupor which has prevailed for many days during her lingering illness. During this interval she called to her bedside each of her children and grandchildren, bid them all farewell, and made all her own funeral arrangements.
The end came as peacefully as the dawn, thus closing the earthly career of another of those sturdy pioneer Christian characters who have contributed so unselfishly to the upbuilding of the west.
