OBITUARY: 
FLETCHER--At the home, at the corner of Fourth and Hood streets, Thursday, March 3, 1913, S.M. Fletcher, at the age of 56 years. The funeral will be held from the home at 2 o’clock tomorrow. Interment in the Odd Fellows’ cemetery.

Silas M. Fletcher, who died at his home at North Fourth street, Thursday, April 3, was born in Mercer county, Illinois, December 3, 1846. He was the oldest son of Samuel M. Fletcher, who crossed the plains with teams to Oregon in 1864 and purchased the Alfred Stanton donation land claim, four miles northeast of Salem. 
Of this family, H. C. Fletcher of Salem, a brother; Mrs. Lois Whealdon of Plainsview, a sister, and Mrs. Lucy C. Churchman of Sheridan, a half sister, survive him. In 1881 he married Annaretta Herren, who died in 1894. In 1896 he married Mrs. Belle Miller of Linn county, who, with Rita, a daughter, and Silas Jr., a son, survive him; also Eunice Miller, a step-daughter, shared his home and affections as one of his own children. 
In 1902 he retired from farm and dairy interests and came to North Salem to reside where, he will be missed by a wide circle of friends and neighbors.

Silas M. Fletcher died Thursday morning at 8:30 o'clock at the family residence, 1415 North Fourth street. The funeral will be held this afternoon at 2 o'clock at the residence. Rev. P. S. Knight will officiate. Interment will take place at the City View Cemetery [sic].

FLETCHER, SILAS M. The funeral of the late Silas M. Fletcher was held this afternoon from the residence, corner of Fourth and Hood streets, at 2 o’clock Saturday afternoon. Rev. P. S. Knight will conduct the services. Burial will be in the I.O.O.F. cemetery.
