OBITUARY:  TRAIN SEVERS TRAMP'S HEAD.  GEORGE THOMAS GODFREY LOSES LIFE NEAR BROOKS STATION.  PAPERS ON DEAD MAN SHOW HIM TO HAVE BEEN A COALPASSER ON A VESSEL.  With his head severed from his body and the railroad ties soaked in blood, the body of George Thomas Godfrey was found yesterday on the Southern Pacific tracks near Brooks.  Coroner Clough was notified and hurried to the scene, bringing the mangled remains to this city for possible identification and interment. Papers on the body showed that he wad been discharged from a coaling vessel March 4 of the present year at Philadelphia and had booked from Chicago for a four years' period of service.  The position in which the body was found led the coroner to believe that the man had fallen from a moving train on which he was attempting to steal a ride, or that an early train had struck him as he walked along. There was no money or other things of value in his pockets and he was poorly dressed. The discharge papers from the coaling vessel showed his age to be 30 years and 11 months.
