Yesterday Jeff Howe [sic] died in the asylum. He was brought to that place from Jackson county about six weeks ago. He was a few years ago, a very prominent man in Josephine county, of which county he was also sheriff. He was about 55 years of age and was a pioneer of southern Oregon.
