OBITUARY:  KIGHTLINGER - At the family home on the southwest corner of Liberty and Wilson streets, South Salem, at 2:15 a.m., Monday, August 24, 1896, Mary Jane, beloved wife of Adam S. Kightlinger, aged 66 years, 2 months and 28 days.  The funeral will be held at the residence, at 2 o'clock this afternoon, by Rev. Josiah Bowersox and the remains will be consigned to their last resting place in Rural cemetery. Mrs. Kightlinger's maiden name was Mary Jane Morgan and she was born in Naples, Scott county, Illinois, on May 26, 1830.  In the year 1852 she was among a party crossing the plains to Oregon and after arriving in the Willamette valley settled in the Waldo hills. There she remained about a year when she came to Salem. Her marriage to Mr. Kightlinger occurred on January 3, 1856. With the exception of the two years from 1866 to 1868, which were spent in Albany, Mr. and Mrs. Kightlinger have been residents of Salem since that time. Mrs. Kightlinger was the mother of six children, namely: Marion, Elmer, Grant, Schuyler, Athalia and Walter--the latter two having preceded her to the grave.  Daily Oregon Statesman 25 Aug 1896, 4:5 INSCRIPTION:  Mary J.  Wife of  Adam S.
