California, Ora Lance, age 2, b. California, and Ruby, age 5 months, b. California. Also enumerated with the family is John Wilson, age 24, laborer, b. Missouri.  
1870 CENSUS - S.S. Lance, age 34, b. Illinois, is enumerated with J. W. Lance, age 34, occupation watchman, b. Ohio, along with M. H., female, age 16, b. Oregon, Perry, age 14, b. California, Ora, age 12, b. California, Ruby, age 10, b. Californina, and Frank, age 5, b. California. 
DISCREPANCY - IOOF Register states that she died in Harrisburg, but obit states death occured in Jefferson.
DISCREPANCY - Obit and 1870 Census give birthplace as Illinois, 1860 Census as Indiana.
OBITUARY: 
At her home in Jefferson, on Tuesday night, April 9th, at 10:30 o'clock, of heart disease, Mrs. Sarah Lance, wife of J. W. Lance aged 54 years. 
Deceased was a native of Knoxville, Ill., and crossed the plains to Oregon with her husband in 1852. She resided in Salem since that time, with the exception of about three years which she spent in California during the Rogue river Indian war, until, with her husband, she took up her residence in Jefferson last fall, where she spent her last days. She leaves several children and a host of friends to mourn her loss. The body will be brought down on the train today, and the funeral will take place from the residence of her daughter, Mrs. John Chase, No. 105 South Commercial street, at 2:30 p.m. and the remains laid to rest in the Odd Fellows' cemetery.
