OBITUARY: 

Miss Josephine Baumgartner, 63, 1915 Fir St S, died at the residence Sunday morning. She had suffered a stroke several weeks ago. A native of Salem, she was a resident here all her life. She was a 1923 graduate of the University of Oregon and a 1927 graduate of the School of Library at Columbia University, New York. In 1957, she retired as reference librarian at the State Library. She had been there 3- years. She was a member of the Salem Library Board and St Paul’s Episcopal Church. Her index of Oregon State Historical Society Quarterlies, which took her several years to compile, will be published soon. Surviving are sister Mrs R. Caughell, Salem; nephew John R. Caughell, Salem; and niece Mrs J.W. Laughary, Eugene. Services will be 1:30 pm Wednesday in St Paul’s Episcopal Church, Rev Daniel H. Ferry officiating. W.T. Rigdon Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Laughary, Eugene. Services will be Wednesday, June 2, at 1:30 pm at St Paul’s Episcopal Church, Rev Daniel H. Ferry officiating. In lieu of flowers, place make donations to the Memorial Fund of St Paul’s Episcopal Church. W.T. Rigdon Mortuary is in charge.
