OBITUARY: DIED--In Eugene City, August 17th 1873, at the residence of her son, Dr. A. I. Nicklin, Mrs. Sarah Nicklin, at the advanced age of 69 years. Mrs. Nicklin was born in Green county, Pennsylvania, December 26, 1805. In early childhood she moved with her parents to Virginia, where she lived until the year 1812, at which time she moved to Iowa. From this place she came with her husband across the plains to Oregon in 1850, and settled in Polk county. In 1868 she left Polk county settling with her family in Salem, at which place she has lived until quite recently. Mrs. Nicklin survived her husband but four years, he having passed away in 1869. She was well known and respected by all who knew her as a conscientious Christian, a good and kind mother, and leaves a large number of children and friends to mourn her death.
