OBITUARY: 

Arch K. Parker, widely-respected retired banker and a partner with Ted Rodman in a real estate firm, died about 9:50 am today in the Lebanon Community Hospital following a stroke in his home, 520 Carlson Dr. Mr Parker, who had just passed his 72nd birthday, was known throughout the state in his almost 50 years of banking experience. He came here as manager and executive vice president of the Bank of Lebanon on Aug 15, 1953, after retiring the first of that month as manager and vice president of the La Grande branch of the First National Bank of Portland, where he had served for 20 years. He retired from the Lebanon bank June 30, 1958, later joining Rodman in the realty business. Mr Parker contributed substantially to Lebanon affairs. He was a member of the Elks Lodge, the Lions Club, a Mason and was treasurer and director of the Lebanon-Sweet Home Community Concert Association. Mr Parker was born Oct 15, 1888, began his banking career in 1909 when he joined the First National bank of Joseph. He continued there until 1918 when he resigned to accept a post with the Wallowa National Bank in Enterprise. In 1933 he became associated with the First National Bank of La Grande, and in 1935 when the bank was purchased by First National, he was made manager and later vice president. In La Grande, as he was here, he was connected with numerous activities. He was past president of the [line missing]. Survivors include his wife, Helen, and a son, Knox Parker, who with his wife and two sons, Knox Jr and Peter, live at Sacramento. Services are pending from the Jost Funeral Home.
