FUNERAL OF MISS PARMENTER, HELD.
Character of Salem Woman Is Set Forth In Lines From Browning.
The funeral of Miss Mary Parmenter who died in Portland Monday was held at the family home, 821 Commercial street, Wednesday afternoon. Rev. P.S. Knight officiated. Miss Parmenter was the daughter of the late C.M. Parmenter and is survived by her mother, three sisters and a brother. Mrs. Hallie Parrish Hings sang "Nearer My god to Thee" and "Ever Remembered by What I have Done". Many beautiful floral tributes wee sent by friends in this city and Portland.
Miss Parmenter’s beautiful character was well expressed in the following lines of Elizabeth Harriet Browning, which were read at the service by Mrs. Perry Raymond. The sweetest lives are those to duty wed Whose deeds both great and small Are close-knit strands of unbroken thread While love enables all The world may sound no trumpets, ring no bells The book of life the shining records tells.
