OBITUARY:
MRS. HAL D. PATTON DIES AT HER HOME.
Passes Away From Rheumatism of Heart --
Funeral tomorrow at 2 P.M. Nellie May Lucia, wife of Senator Hal D. Patton, died yesterday morning at 4 o’clock after a prolonged illness from rheumatism of the heart. She was born January 23, 1875, at Little Suamico, Wisconsin, and came to Oregon with her parents in 1906, coming to Salem in 1907; she was united in marriage with Mr. Patton January 1, 1911, and was taken ill last July. She went to Shippard Springs, and she has had the constant attendance of the ablest physicians and all the care that loving friends and family could give. Her mother and sister from Portland have been with her day and night for five weeks, and she passed on from her mother’s arms. She had passed a very quiet night and awoke refreshed and took some nourishment, and her death was very peaceful. The funeral will be held from the Patton home at 883 Court street, on Monday at 2 o’clock p.m. Burial will be private at the family vault in Rural cemetery. Mrs. Patton was a member or the Presbyterian church and the funeral will be conducted by Rev. P.S. Knight and her pastor, Rev. Mr. Babcock. Mrs. Patton was a lovely character and in her suffering displayed a noble patience and Christian fortitude. During her life in this city she had endeared herself to a host of friends, who feel in her death they have sustained a personal and irreparable loss.
