OBITUARY: 
At the Salem hospital, Saturday, July 6, 1907, at 7 a. m. George W. Hitchens, aged 43 years, of tuberculosis. 
The deceased was born at Mineral Point, Wisconsin, and removed with his parents to Oregon, in 1880, and for some time past has been a resident of Independence. About six moths ago symptoms of lung trouble appeared, since which time he has failed rapidly and three weeks ago was brought to the Salem hospital. He is survived by four sisters, Mrs. C. O. Lee, of Albany, Mrs. C. C. Goldsworthy, of Mineral Point, Wisconsin, Mrs. E. E. Paddock, of Independence, and Mrs. William Staiger, of this city, The funeral will occur from W. T. Rigdon's chapel on Court street at 3:30 o'clock this afternoon, Rev. F. E. Dell conducting the services, and interment will be made at the Odd Fellows' cemetery, where his parents and brother are buried.
