OSBH DC (Marion 1907) #3134 Caroline Daue was born in Germany Feb. 4, 1838, daughter of Mr. Melcher and his wife Carolina. She died a widow, March 5, 1907 in Salem, aged 69 years 1 month and 2 days.
OBITUARY: 
DAUE--At the home of her daughter, Mrs. Fred Hurst, in South Salem, at 5:45 p.m., Wednesday, March 5, 1907, Mrs. Caroline Daue, aged 69 years, after a lingering illness. The deceased was onbe of the well-known and esteemed old residents of Salem, having lived here for the past eighteen years. She was born in Berlin, Germany, February 4, 1838, and was married to Ludwig Daue in 1855. Later they migrated to America and settled in Addison, Washington county, Wisconsin. They removed to Oregon in 1876 and made their home a few miles from Oregon City where in 1889 Mr. Daue died. Subsequently Mrs. Daue moved to Salem where she has resided for the past eighteen years. She leaves to mourn her death the following children: Robert Daue, of Clackamas county; Louis Daue, of Portland; Albert Daue, of Tonopah, Nevada; Alexander Daue and Mrs. Fred Hurst of this city. The funeral will be held Friday afternoon from the Hurst residence and Rev. P.S. Knight of the Central Congregational church will officiate. Daily Oregon Statesman 7 March 1907 5:2
