Transient Identified - State police bureau of identification fingerprint records Wednesday revealed identity of the transient known only as "Tex" who died at a Salem hospital Monday night from injuries received when he was struck by an automobile. The man, who had been picking hops at the Cooper hopyard near Independence, was Clarence Edward Meachem, alias Gordon Vernon Taylor, and his home was a Stockton, Calif. His fingerprints had been placed on the state police file not because he had any serious record, officers said, but as the result of a series of minor offenses.
