LAD PASSES AWAY -- Youngest Son of Professor Godward of Turner Dies at That Place -- Burial at Salem Herbert Godward, the youngest son and child of Professor and Mr. Godward of Turner, Oregon, passed away at his home here yesterday morning. Herbert underwent a successful operation for appendicitis on Saturday, but other conditions could not be reached by the skilled physicians and the dear boy had to leave us. Herbert was an exceptionally bight boy, aged 9 years past, and his life was full of sushine. He loved his Sunday school and the public school. He was always ready to accompany his father to and from school and his cheerful voice was an inspiration to the father, who will greatly miss this devoted son. The mother will miss her morning caress and it is hard for the brother and sister and parents to part with their loved one. Funeral services will be held at the Methodist church here with the Rev. Mr. Drake officiating, and interment will be in I. O. O. F. cemetery at Salem. The family has the sympathy of the entire community. --Turner Cor. Oregon Statesman 6 Sep 1911, 4:4.
