OBITUARY:  Donald Edward Beecroft April 8, 1924 - April 28, 2006 KEIZER - With many of his loving family at his side, Don Beecroft passed away April 28, 2006 at the age of 82 from congestive heart disease. He was born on April 8, 1924 in Keizer, Oregon to the late Laura and Clemence Beecroft. Don graduated from Salem High School in 1942 and served in the U.S. Army from 1943-1946. Then, following his marriage to Joan L. Remington on June 28, 1947, he attended Oregon State University, graduating with an engineering degree in 1952. He spent his entire career working for the State of Oregon as a Civil Engineer, retiring in 1984 after 33 years of service. His talented contributions to many of Oregon’s bridges will be appreciated for years to come. Don’s kind, gentle spirit leaves us with memories of a consummate handyman, meticulous craftsman, devoted husband, father, grandfather and friend. He is survived by his loving wife, Joan; daughter, Linda and her husband Richard Mario; son, Steve and his wife Susan Irish Beecroft; and five grandchildren, Megan, Kyle, and Kendra Mario, and Ian and Tyler Beecroft; as well as nephews and nieces. He was preceded in death by his sister, Lorraine; and two brothers, Rob and Gordon. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that contributions be made to Marion-Polk Food Share, Inc., 1660 Salem Industrial Dr NE, Salem OR 97303. Memorial services for Donald Beecroft will be held at 2 p.m., Wednesday, May 3, at City View Funeral Home, 390 Hoyt St. S., Salem Ore. Private burial will follow.
