DISCREPANCY - in the obit of Oral Ruth Stutesman, her surviving daughter is listed as Marie Tate, and in the obit for Clarence Stutesman, Marie is listed as his surviving daughter; Marie is enumerated as the daughter of Clarence and Oral Stutesman in the 1930 census record, but Marie's obit gives the name of her mother as Florence (Murney) Fitzwater. NOTE - Oral Ruth's maiden name was Fitzwater. It looks like James Fitzwater was Oral's older brother.
1920 CA CENSUS - Marie J. Fitzwater, age 4 yrs 11 mos, b. Oregon, is enumerated with James H., age 31, occupation day foreman (shipyard), b. Oregon, and Euphemea, age 25, b. Pennsylvania. [they are enumerated next to James' brother, Fred, and his wife Lotta.
1930 OR CENSUS - Marie J. Stutesman, age 15, b. Oregon, is enumerated as the daughter in the home of Clarence Stutesman, age 50, occupation hop buyer, b. Oregon, and his wife Oral R., age 38, b. Oregon.

Foss - Marie Tate Foss, 91, of Eugene, died Feb. 13. A memorial gathering will be from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. Feb. 25 at Terpening Terrace, Eugene. Arrangements by Musgrove Family Mortuary, Eugene.

A memorial gathering will be held from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. Feb. 25 at Terpening Terrace in Eugene for Marie Tate Foss of Eugene, who died Feb. 13 of age-related causes. She was 91.
She was born Feb. 14, 1915, in Salem to James and Florence Murney Fitzwater. She married Lee Tate in September 1937 in Salem, and he died in September 1965. She married Edward Foss in November 1967 in Portland. He died in 1988.
She was an artist, an entertainer and a jeweler.
She is survived by a daughter, Melinda Rauch.
Arrangements by Musgrove Family Mortuary in Eugene. Private inurnment will be at Salem Pioneer Cemetery. Remembrances to Greenhill Humane Society.
