OBITUARY: 
Dallas – Harry Elmer Friesen of Dallas died Thursday, January 14, He was 91
years old.
Harry was born in Dallas on March 29, 1918 to Jacob and Elizabeth Friesen. He married Ruth E. Van Laanen on March 16, 1938 in Vancouver, Washington.
Through his early years he worked on farms and also operated dairy farms on the coast and in the Willamette Valley. After serving in the U.S. Army during the occupation of Okinawa. He worked as Parts and Service manager for various car dealerships throughout Oregon.
He retired as a purchasing agent for an Automotive Parts Warehouse. He was a member of Lents Evangelical Church in Portland for over 20 years, and in recent years attended Grace Baptist Church in Salem.
Harry had a passion for Christian music, especially men's quartets and sang with many groups including the Salem Singers. He especially loved singing with his 3 boys. He enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Harry is survived by sons, James Friesen of Lincoln City and Philip Friesen of Salem, sisters, Anne Carrington of Hood River and Leta Watson of Dallas, 7 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren. He was preceded in
death by wife, Ruth and son Kenneth.
A memorial service will be held 11 am Saturday, January 23rd at Grace Baptist Church, 4197 State St,
Salem. Memorial contributions can be made to Youth for Christ, PO Box 2161, Salem, OR 97308.
Arrangements are under the care of Howell, Edwards, Doerksen, with Rigdon – Ransom Funeral Directors.
