OBITUARY: 

Mrs. Myrtle E. Beyerle, 82, who had spent most of her active life in the Smithfield district of Polk county, died Saturday night in Portland. She became suddenly ill earlier in the day and died within a few hours. 
Mrs. Beyerle was born Feb 27, 1881, in Salem and was married to John T. Beyerle Dec 12, 1900. Most of her life was spent in Polk and Marion counties. They lived 33 years on the farm at Smithfield now occupied by a son, George. She later moved to Dolph and then to Portland, where she had lived the past 12 years. Mr. Beyerle preceded her in death by ten years. She leaves a warm circle of friends in the county. 
She is survived by one daughter, Mrs. Earl (Ruth) Johnson, Portland, and four sons, William, McCoy; George, Smithfield; Richard, Portland and James, Newport. Miss Audrey Beyerle, Polk county dairy princess of 1962-63, is a granddaughter. There are ten other grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren. Three brothers also survive, Charles and Frank Sturgis, both Brooks and Monroe Sturgis, Cloverdale.
Services were Wednesday in Portland with graveside in City View [sic] cemetery, Salem, in the afternoon.
